Our Workmanship Warranty — in plain English.
Every AJ Painting project ships with a written workmanship warranty. Exterior gets two years, interior and cabinets and decks each get one. No legalese, no fine print — if it's our fault, we come back.
A warranty only matters if the painter actually honours it. Ours is short enough to read in two minutes, specific enough that you know what's covered, and backed by a 17-year track record of returning customer projects. We've been in Ashland since 2009 — we're not going anywhere.
Interior Painting

Walls, ceilings, trim, doors. Covers peeling, cracking, and blistering on properly prepped drywall, plaster, and wood substrates.

Chips from normal use are touched up free for 12 months. Most clients see 7–10+ years of life from the finish itself in normal kitchen use.

Penetrating stain refresh every 2–3 years is normal maintenance — not a warranty claim. We warranty the application itself, not the natural fade of any wood finish in New England weather.

- Visible defects we missed at the final walk-through

What's Not Covered
Honest about the limits.
- Structural movement (settling cracks, foundation shifts)
- Water intrusion behind the paint (roof leaks, failed flashing)
- Substrate failures by others (rotted wood, failed siding nailing)
- Normal wear (kid scuffs, doorknob rub-off, sun fade after the warranty window)
- Third-party damage (movers, contractors, weather events)
- DIY work performed on the painted surface after we leave
How to make a warranty claim
Call (508) 258-4325 or email info@ajpaintingservicesinc.com within the warranty period. Send a photo of the issue and the project address. We schedule a site visit within 5 business days, assess in person, and resolve approved claims at no cost to you — usually within two weeks of the first call.
Warranty transfers when you sell
If you sell the home during the warranty period, the remaining coverage transfers to the new owner — they just need a copy of the original signed estimate. We've honored second-owner claims many times; it's built into how we write the warranty.
Why our warranty is shorter than "Lifetime"
Some painters advertise a "lifetime warranty" — read the fine print and you usually find it's capped at one or two years of actual coverage, with the rest as marketing. We'd rather tell you the truth: two years of exterior coverage is what we've learned, over 17 years and 500+ projects, catches every workmanship defect that's going to appear. After that you're into normal weathering, not paint failure — and that's when a refresh, not a re-do, is the right call.
