A 2018 new-build in Wellesley had the look right, but five years of UV had taken the punch out of the white siding and grayed the cedar shutters. The owner wanted listing-ready by Labor Day without changing the architectural palette.
The challenge
Board-and-batten siding looks great until you have to mask the metal roof flashing, the standing-seam gutter system, and the matte-black exterior light fixtures. The trim package was 12 different surfaces in two colors. Sequencing mattered — wrong order and we'd hand-cut every line twice.
What we did
- Soft-wash entire envelope with mildew solution, dwell, rinse
- Spot-prime sun-damaged sections of cedar shutters with oil-bond primer
- Caulk replaced at every trim-to-siding joint (~480 linear feet)
- Two coats Aura Exterior in Simply White on siding, sprayed + back-brushed
- Black trim hand-brushed for crisp edges against the white field
The result
Same architectural language, fresh paint that reads pristine from the street. Photos for the listing came out the way the architect originally intended.
